What is the Fleurieu Retreat?

Unplug, Reconnect, and Recharge at the Fleurieu Retreat

What exactly IS the Fleurieu Retreat? Active Rest Retreats are often associated with the Flinders, but our Wilpena experience has a little lesser-known sister, The Fleurieu Retreat. Combining all the elements we’re known and loved for (yoga, bushwalking and Aboriginal Cultural Learning, breathwork & meditation for women) but closer to Adelaide, shorter in duration, and at a more affordable price point. Are you ready to experience the Fleurieu Peninsula the Active Rest Retreats way?

Nestled along the breathtaking coastline at Kings Beach Retreats near Victor Harbor of South Australia, the Fleurieu Retreat is more than just an escape—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, nature, and a community of like-minded women. Designed for those seeking a balance of adventure, relaxation, and personal growth, this retreat blends mindfulness, movement, and cultural immersion for a truly transformative experience.

What Makes the Fleurieu Retreat Special?

Imagine waking up to the sound of waves, stepping into a morning of gentle yoga and breathwork, and feeling the tension of everyday life melt away. At the Fleurieu Retreat, each day is crafted to bring balance and renewal, with a mix of guided bushwalks, yoga modalities and moments of stillness to ground and inspire you. OH - and you get the chance to not lift a finger! All meals are lovingly prepare for you, so no need to plan, shop, prep, or clean up. Just sit back and receive!

One of the most profound elements of this retreat is the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal cultural education experience on our first night to ground you on Country, offering a deeper connection to the land and its stories. Through guided discussions and reflections, we gain insight into the wisdom and traditions of the local First Nations people, enriching our own understanding of self and place. This experience includes traditional basket weaving, allowing us to engage in a hands-on cultural & wellness practice that has been passed down through generations. It is a beautiful way to begin the retreat—grounding us in presence, deepening our respect for the land, and setting the tone for meaningful reflection and connection.

A Space for Rest & Adventure

Whether you’re craving solitude or shared connection, the Fleurieu Retreat provides space for both. You’ll have time to journal, reflect, and simply breathe, but also opportunities to immerse yourself in nature—whether that’s through coastal walks, invigorating cold ocean plunges, or simply sitting in the cosy but luxurious accommodation, watching the sunset with a cup of tea and good conversation.

A highlight of the retreat is Sarah's Breath & Rest Workshop, a deeply restorative session that teaches the art of slowing down, tuning into the body, and using breath as a powerful daily tool for relaxation and renewal. Daily yoga classes further complement the experience, offering both dynamic flows and gentle, meditative sessions to support your body and mind throughout the retreat.

For those seeking adventure, Elise's guided bushwalk along the Heyson Trail to the Waitpinga Cliffs is an unforgettable experience. Traversing the dramatic coastline, this walk not only builds resilience and connection to nature but also offers breathtaking views that inspire deep reflection and appreciation for the land. We stop for some empowering moments too, like giving you the opportunity to brag to the group of your newfound friends who will cheer you on, or stopping to "coooweeee" to the cliffs and release any stuck energy! It feels GOOD and that feeling will stick with you!

The Final Day: A Sunrise Ceremony to Remember

On the last morning of the retreat, we gather for a sunrise ceremony, a powerful moment of stillness, gratitude, and intention-setting. As the sun rises over the horizon, we take time to honor the journey we've been on—both internally and externally—and carry that sense of renewal forward into our daily lives.

Who is This Retreat For?

This retreat is designed for women of all ages and backgrounds who are ready to step away from the noise of daily life and step into a space of renewal. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, craving adventure, ready to learn, or simply in need of deep rest, the Fleurieu Retreat offers a nurturing and uplifting environment where you can reset and return home feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected.
